About Me | Herriman Violin Teacher
Hi, I’m Heather!
I’m a musician, wife, and mom of 2. I am passionate about quality music education, and I have dedicated my career to figuring out the most efficient way to teach music while also being a nurturing adult figure for my students.
My love of music was nurtured at an early age. I started Suzuki violin at the age of 3 and added piano lessons soon after. I studied piano for 15 years and violin for 19 years, including at a college level. I had incredibly talented and inspiring teachers who were true mentors for me. They inspired me to become better as a musician and as a person. Because of them, I dreamed of becoming that type of role model for others as an adult.
My music studies eventually led me to Brigham Young University, where I received my bachelor’s degree in Music Education. I became a Suzuki-certified teacher and started my viola studies during my college years. I performed regularly with the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra and in my own solo recitals. My professors were instrumental in helping me develop true musicianship and succeed in my early years as a middle school orchestra teacher and a young private teacher.
I have now been teaching privately for 11 years and run a full private studio as well as an elementary orchestra program. I love the balance I’ve been able to find between spending time raising my children and nurturing my love of teaching and playing music.
