5 Things You May Not Know About Me | Utah Violin Teacher

 

 

If you’ve been following along, you probably have a good idea of my musical background and knowledge. As a way for you to get to know me better as a person (outside of my career), I am sharing 5 things you may not know about me personally.

 

Perfect Pitch

Okay, this first one does relate to my career. In fact, it’s a part of me that somewhat drove my career path. I have perfect pitch! My mom found out when I was a preschooler. We would do note name flashcards together, and I would start singing the note (correctly) before playing it on the piano.

 

Large Family

I am the 7th of 9 kids! My mom actually wanted a dozen kids, but unfortunately had several losses. Coming from a big family has brought me some unique and interesting challenges and has helped shape who I am today.

 

Running

I developed a love for running during my college years. I ran a half marathon every summer in college, and I also participated in a challenging team race called Ragnar with some family members. Although I don’t run quite as much anymore (weight lifting and HIIT are my jam now), I still run weekly and love the time I have to myself to be outside and in my own thoughts.

 

Introvert

I consider myself an introvert, which is probably part of the reason I like music so much. As a teenager, I loved being by myself for long amounts of time, just working on developing my skills. Although being introverted has been a challenge in my life at times, I am learning to accept my quiet personality and even recognize the strengths of being quiet in a loud, extroverted world.

 

Photography

I am really interested in photography. I especially love taking pictures of my kids and documenting my travels. It is a fun, creative outlet for me.
